In
Collaboration with Palau Community College
The SDSU undergraduate degree offered in this program
is the major in interdisciplinary studies in three departments
through the College of Education and the Division of Undergraduate
Studies.
This interdisciplinary degree has been specifically
designed with coursework that will provide educators in
the Republic of Palau with a strong foundation in research-based
education philosophy and instructional methods. The degree
is 120 semester units. Students will need to meet the foreign
language requirement. Students need three semesters of
competency in a language other than English.
There is a
requirement for American Institutions and California Government.
Finally, students must complete 50 units at a four-year
college/university with the remainder being community college
units.
The major incorporates three different disciplines into
a unified theme.

A minimum of two courses (normally defined
as six semester units) in each of the three departments
selected in the major must be completed in the lower division
as foundation for upper division courses. In departments
where lower division offerings are insufficient to meet
this requirement, the total minimum upper division requirement
may be extended. A minimum of 36 upper division units must
be selected from the three departments: (a) with no fewer
than nine units from each of the three departments.
The three Departments include the School of Teacher Education
(TE), the Department of Educational Technology (ET) and
the Department of Administration, Rehabilitation and Postsecondary
Education (ARPE). For purposes of the initial cohort of
students, there will be 15 units from TE, 12 units from
ET, and 9 units from ARPE.
